Drum Lessons in The Hague for Expat Families

If you've just moved to The Hague and your child has been asking about drum lessons, you're in the right place. Den Haag has a small but solid music education scene, and finding a drum school that teaches in English — with professional studios, experienced teachers, and a genuine approach — takes some research. Where we are

Stefan van de Brug Drum School is located in Popradar, a music building in Loosduinen, Den Haag. The address is Engeringstraat 46, 2552 DP Den Haag. Three professional drum studios, free parking on site, and Tram 2 stops right at the door (stop: Loosduinen).

For families near The International School of The Hague (ISH), it's about a 10-minute bike ride. We have students from ISH, BISS, and other international schools in the area.

Fact: All our teachers can teach in English. Lessons are one-on-one, so the lesson language is always adapted to the student.

What we teach — and how

We offer private drum lessons for children (from age 6) and adults of all levels. One-on-one, in a real professional drum studio, with an acoustic drum kit. We don't use a fixed curriculum — we follow the student's musical taste and goals.

Our teaching approach is based on the CBM method: Consciousness, Body, Mind. Practically it means: we always pay attention to posture, grip, and breathing alongside rhythm and technique. Students feel the difference quickly.

Pricing and scheduling

We work with monthly subscriptions. Current rates (2026):

• Weekly 30 min: €79.50/month (under 21) | €96.25/month (21+)

• Weekly 45 min: €119.50/month (under 21) | €144.50/month (21+)

• Bi-weekly 30 min: €47.50/month (under 21) | €57.50/month (21+)

Students under 21 benefit from a VAT exemption under Dutch education law. Payment is monthly via iDEAL. One month cancellation notice.

Lessons are available on weekdays (afternoon/evening) and Saturday mornings. We'll find a time that works with your schedule.

The free trial lesson

The first lesson is always free. 30 minutes, no commitment, no subscription required. Your child meets the teacher, sits behind the drum kit, plays a bit, and you'll know afterwards whether it clicks. We can conduct the trial in English.
