Does your kit at home sound completely different from the kits you hear online, live or in the studio? Do your toms keep singing, does your snare sound harsh, or can't you get the bass drum nice and tight?
In a personal session we rebuild your kit step by step towards a sound that fits your music, playing style and room — and you learn how to get that sound back yourself later.

You're not the only one. A good drum sound comes from the combination of heads, tuning, dampening, drum sizes, the room and personal taste. In this session we bring those elements together.
Your toms sound too high, too low, dead or restless.
Your snare sounds harsh, tinny, or rings on for too long.
Your bass drum lacks punch or sounds like a cardboard box.
You mounted new heads, but the sound is disappointing.
You don't know which head suits your music and your kit.
You keep adding more dampening, but the problem persists.
You can hear a drum doesn't sound right, but don't know what to adjust.
You find tuning complicated and end up just turning tension rods at random.
A drum kit doesn't have to be perfect or expensive to sound good. There's often much more in an affordable or older kit than you'd think — the right heads and tuning usually make a bigger difference than buying a new kit.
That's why we don't look at one single tom or snare, but build a complete, musical sound in which all drums fit together well. For example:
We don't simply try to copy a famous kit exactly — we translate your examples into a sound that actually works on your own kit.
Not a standard drum lesson and not a quick tuning, but a personal session in which we work on your complete drum sound.
1. We define your sound
Before or at the start of the session we discuss where you want to go. Feel free to bring songs, videos or recordings with a drum sound that appeals to you. We look at the music you play, where you play (at home, live, in the studio), what you currently dislike about your sound, and how much sustain, attack, warmth and projection you're after. This gives us a clear and realistic sound goal.
2. We check your drum kit
Before tuning, we go over your kit technically: the condition of the heads, hoops and tension rods, loose or rattling parts, the snare wires, the bass drum and pedal setup, and the positioning of the drums. If parts need replacing or more extensive repair, you'll get honest advice about it.
3. Maintenance and replacing heads
When needed, we remove the old heads and clean the shells, bearing edges and hoops before starting fresh. We mount new batter and resonant heads, re-adjust the snare wires and track down small rattles. New heads and parts are not included in the session price — you can bring your own or have them ordered in advance in consultation.
4. Learning to tune together
I don't just tune your kit for you — we do it together. You learn how to bring a head up to tension evenly, check the pitch at each tension rod, what the resonant head does, how to get more sustain, warmth, attack or focus, and how to tune the toms musically to each other. We work by ear or with a Tune-Bot — the goal is that you learn to hear what's happening.
5. Dampening and sound design
Dampening is no fix for a badly tuned drum, but after tuning it can help shape the sound further. We compare gel dampeners, O-rings, tape, snare weights, internal dampening, bass drum pillows and different beater positions. You hear immediately what each adjustment does — and how much dampening your sound actually needs.
With the full Drum Sound Session you also receive a personal overview with the most important settings and advice: the type and size of the heads used, Tune-Bot or frequency settings, the relationship between batter and resonant heads, the chosen dampening, recommended maintenance and possible future upgrades. So you can always rebuild your favourite sound.

You may never have tuned a drum kit yourself and want to learn how it works from the start.
You've been playing for a while, but never really learned how to make your kit sound consistently good.
You want a sound that holds up in the rehearsal room and on stage.
You want the foundation of your drum sound to be right before a recording session.
You want your new kit checked, set up and tuned properly right away.
There's a drum kit at home, but nobody knows exactly how to maintain and tune it.
You can find plenty of videos online about tuning drums. Yet it remains hard to figure out which information applies to your own kit. Every kit responds differently: the sizes, wood type, heads, hoops, room and the way you play all influence the result.
In a personal session you hear immediately what each adjustment does on your own drums. No months of trying out different advice, heads and dampening methods — together we search for a sound that works.
You don't need to buy a new kit, a new snare or an expensive set of cymbals right away. A good sound usually starts with the basics: the right heads, good tuning, deliberate dampening, and understanding what your kit needs. You'll go home with a better sounding kit and the knowledge to maintain that sound yourself.
